Communicating fully is the opposite of being traumatized.

Individual Psychotherapy

Evidence-based treatment.

One of the primary ways I approach treatment is through a psychodynamic lens. From this perspective, early relationships offer meaningful insight into our current relationship patterns and overall sense of well-being. While working from this framework, therapy will often be an endeavor to better understand some of your core conflicts, how they've developed, and patterns of engaging in the world that might be perpetuating them in unhelpful ways. In this mode of therapy, we will have collaborative discussions to examine some of the recurring patterns and themes. An increased awareness of your ways of relating to others and current coping patterns helps to free up room for new ways of being, which often reduces the distress you are experiencing and leads to improved mental health.

Therapeutic alliance.

To the extent that therapy is an exploration of our past and present relationships, the relationship between client and therapist, also known as the therapeutic alliance, is of utmost importance. In getting to know the individuals with whom I work, I try to stay open, creative, and curious in order to optimize the time we have together and the therapeutic benefits of a strong alliance.

A pragmatic approach.

While psychodynamic theory has a prominent influence in my therapeutic process, I also believe in taking a pragmatic approach and utilize tools from other evidence-based treatments. Humans are infinitely complex, and there is no one theory or approach that would fully address your unique experiences and needs. For this reason, I aim to get a full understanding of you and your experiences in order to best tailor my approach to your needs. Below is a list of symptoms and diagnoses I have experience treating, in addition to some treatment approaches and techniques I frequently employ in my work.
