Case Consultation
I provide clinical case consultation to mental health providers who feel like they might need additional support or insight around one or more cases. I have served as a clinical supervisor to trainees at extern, intern, and postdoctoral levels of experience since 2017, in addition to being actively engaged in peer consultation groups. Outside of my private practice, I am a clinical psychologist at the Washington DC VA Medical Center where I provide ongoing training and clinical supervision to doctoral students. I am a faculty member of both the neuropsychology postdoctoral fellowship training program and the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) fellowship training program of the Washington DC VA. In my private practice, I currently only provide consultation to individuals who are fully licensed.
I offer both one time and ongoing case consultation. Consultation can assist clinicians in tolerating difficult therapy experiences, deepening the therapeutic alliance, and in increasing the overall effectiveness of psychotherapy. My consultation approach blends relational psychodynamic theory with trauma-informed approaches I have gained from my work with Veterans, including attention to dissociative processes and symptoms.
Lastly, I think of consultation as a way of working with the therapists unique personality and skills to enhance their current practices while also exploring other possible interventions. I help bring attention to both content and process elements that can optimize therapy progress.
